father, cameron olson, identified them in a reddit post and also shared how much he cared for his young son. olson spoke kindly of charlie's mother. the two have been co-parenting the family, moved from the uk to san jose 12 years ago, olson says the community always welcomed them, inspired by his reflection. >> and i know he's got some really tough days ahead, but that represents the best of san jose, somebody who's trying to even in the moment of his greatest tragedy, trying to find the good olson ends his post with if you're a parent, give your kids that extra hug today for me, and please be safe. >> slow down on the roads and focus on what you're doing. >> the north bay community mourning a longtime teacher and coach at a local high school. he was the one killed in a deadly pileup on highway 12 in santa rosa. that crash involved 11 vehicles that shut down westbound lanes by fulton road for about four hours yesterday.

the man killed 78 year old pat lafortune, was a former track coach and history teacher at cardinal newman high school, according to an alumni facebook page. several other people were taken to the hospital. chp says a big rig dump truck didn't stop in traffic in time and caused a chain reaction pileup. >> pretty bad collision. we just remind everyone to slow down and be aware of your surroundings and always pay attention to the roadway. >> we are told the big rig driver is cooperating with the investigation. >> today, vice president kamala harris and minnesota governor tim walz will announce the launch of the fighting for reproductive freedom bus tour. that bus will make at least 50 stops in multiple states offering reproductive resources. just yesterday, vp harris held her first extensive interview since becoming the democratic nominee, her running mate by her side. here in the bay area, people gathered at manny's cafe in the mission district to watch this key moment. a man at the live desk with the takeaways.

francisco police say car break-ins are down 57% this year. >> they're crediting the deployment of new drones and automatic license plate readers. they say this tech is helping to catch organized theft rings. you're looking at video from sfpd from last week. it's one example they gave from a car break-in along the embarcadero. you're watching video from a drone now. it followed the suspects through the city. officers disabled the vehicle and say they arrested three armed suspects that stolen luggage. >> tsay was returned state food and agriculture officials say they are investigating possible avian flu infections in three central valley dairy herds. officials say they are testing to confirm the presence of the h5n1 virus, according to the chronicle. these would be the first cases in california dairy cows, but health officials say there's no safety concern for consumers because pasteurization is fully effective at inactivating the virus in milk and dairy products. the avian flu virus has been detected in cattle in 13 states.

at uc berkeley discovered a chemical process that breaks down plastics like water bottles and milk jugs, so chemists combined the plastics with two catalysts sodium and tungsten. they seal it inside a high pressure reactor, add ethylene and heat it and stir it. the researcher who discovered the process says it creates raw materials that can be recycled much easier than traditional plastic. >> we hope that this method can kind of provide a better alternative to traditional mechanical recycling, where instead of a lower value product out of the recycling process, you can get the exact same plastic by just recreating it from scratch.

morning, they have reached out to the east bay. but right now, viewing the north bay from mount tam, where it is. beautiful sight. right? it changes with the light each and every minute here in the morning as the sun comes up. 638 it sets at 740. and current numbers are ranging from the upper 50s downtown, low to mid 60s from oakland, hayward and san jose, with 59 half moon bay, and from our east bay hills camera atop vollmer peak. there it is, all the low clouds reaching san ramon and out towards walnut creek. looking at partly cloudy skies there for livermore. 54 in napa, it is 59, in concord. santa rosa 55. enjoy the next several days because if you're not a fan of the heat, this reprieve taking us through the holiday and then things really switching up. so gray skies to start for most afternoon sun, breezy winds and those typical spots. and then for the next several days the cooling continues. the coolest day on sunday. some subtle changes tomorrow. some folks may be up a few degrees down a few

degrees on saturday. then sunday, as that trough passes, everyone drops off a few degrees. monday and tuesday triple digits inland 80s to near 90 around the bay shore. but for your saturday morning clouds, afternoon sun, 70s around the bay with 90 inland. so a lot like today 60s coast side. and then by sunday we're partly cloudy, a little bit breezier, waiting a bit more on the sun. but then as we get into the afternoon, you'll feel the cool down into monday. it's milder for a few degrees by a few degrees, i should say. perfect weather for barbecue. and in the sierra nevada, temperatures in the lower 80s. if you're headed to lake tahoe each day for saturday and sunday, little change on monday, dropping off a few degrees, but the big drop off will be on tuesday. and then everyone getting into that heat as we get back into the workweek on tuesday and wednesday, whether or not that's going to stick around until thursday, that's yet to be determined, but it's that same area of high pressure building in from the pacific northwest that has kept

to come back to the bay area tonight with the greatest show on earth. we're talking about ringling brothers circus, and it's bringing all kinds of performances with a reimagined show without animals. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez joining us live at the oakland arena with more on the kind of performances that people can expect. >> good morning kumasi. good morning guys. so i'm very excited because right now we're going to be learning all about the low wire. we have maria montego with us this morning, and behind us we have jonathan lopez who is going to be doing a demo while we're chatting. so for people who don't know about the low wire, maria, tell us a little bit about it. >> actually, this of course, as we can see right now, is the low wire is what we use to warm it up before the show, but actually we're going to do a lot of balance tricks on the high wire. it's the first time ever the

ringling brothers and the whole entire world have the triangular high wire. it's never been done before. and the lopez troupe, we are more proud to be the first performers ever to obtain this act. and as you can see right now, this low wire have like a 2 or 3ft. but actually we're going to work on 25ft in the air during the show. wow. >> and the triangular wire. what makes that so unique? >> as you can see right now, i have to explain a little bit to the audience. like you can see regular and traditional wire are the same like this. like from a to b, but now it's going to be three cables connected to make a triangular shape. so we're going to be four performers doing a stunt on the whole time during the during the act. so we're going to be riding bicycle. as you can see jonathan jumping the rope on the 25ft in the air in the triangular high wire. but also it's going to be three performers jumping at the same time, rope and the high wire. and also like a ride unicycle. we're going to ride bicycles to,

>> and it's going to be labor day weekend. so what's the forecast like? let's check in with lisa. >> yeah we're going to hold off with the return to the heat until after the weekend. so we have a pretty nice forecast for near average temperatures. but what's that right. it's been so long. it's been a hot summer starting out with the fog there. mount tam upper 50s in the city. 63 in oakland with mid 60s from hayward to san jose. the clouds there it is clear in livermore and looking at the clear sky out by the delta. look at all the gray here atop vollmer peak, our east bay hills camera. mid 50s with the cloudy skies in the north bay and partly cloudy in livermore. walnut creek has the clouds as well. 2 to 4 degrees of cooling in the north bay. it's milder in the south bay with that blanket of low clouds. and so the next few hours it's going to make it further eastward, push around the east bay and then pull back. this is 930. sunny skies inland, 60s to near 70. and then as we get towards the later morning hours, it's sunny, pretty much everywhere except at the coast, and numbers will come up through
